FULLER'S BREWERY 'SURREY VILLAGE OF THE YEAR' COMPETITION
Regretably we were unsuccesful in either winning or being one of the joint runners-up in the 2010 competition.
Alhough charm and prettiness are not a pre-requisite, from listening to presentations made at the awards ceremony
on Saturday 23rd October, having a village green and even a duckpond would seem helpful !
All was not lost however, and Stoke d'Abernon picked up the award for the 'Business' category. The criteria for this includes:

- "What part do local businesses play in the life of the village and how are the businesses supportive of community life?"

- "What employment opportunities do the businesses offer to local people and how many are employed?"

- "Are there any community businesses or opportunities for community businesses in the village?"

- "What kind of benefits, either real or potential, does or will the community business provide to residents?"

We gave of our best to the competition but there are some highly marked items such as facilities, services and
activities for senior citizens and their active involvement in the community where Stoke d'Abernon may
struggle slightly against some of the competition. However, in several years time who knows?

The background story to our entry into the competition can be seen here or return to the RA Activities page.
