Background Information

Surrey Highways have been given extra funding to repair roads which have suffered damage due to bad weather. The money has been used to form a programme of works called the ‘Severe weather recovery programme’ which we are delivering as quickly as possible to try to bring the worst affected roads in Surrey up to an acceptable standard. More information is available at https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport.

There is additional information on roadworks.org at https://roadworks.org/?106775073.

There are so many closures it’s chaos. The a244 in Oxshott has had and still has repeated works . The road from a3 into esher has major closure. I saw you’re closing the Portsmouth road too . How are children supposed to get to school. Oxshott is gridlock every morning.

Please could these works be postponed to the weekend? This is a major road feeding two schools with no obvious detours available? This is terrible timing given the existing works already being carried out.

So its now Monday the 8th and all road closed signs are still blocking the road? Giving confusion to everyone on their way to work this morning? This road is open and what poor management!

We checked yesterday and was told it would be closed all day today (Monday). Chaos for school buses
and everyone trying to get to work.
